Wanda Lee Schweer, 91, of Jackson passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 30, 1926, near Oak Ridge to Walter and Freda Barks Martin. She and Eugene Dale Schweer were married Aug. 8, 1946. They had been married 51 years when Eugene passed away Sept. 30, 1997.
Wanda attended elementary school near Oak Ridge. She worked as a cook at Jackson High School and was employed many years at the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson, retiring in the mid-1980s.
She was a longtime member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. She liked to sew, quilt, garden, can, play Bingo at McDonald's in Jackson and visit the Jackson Senior Center. She loved being with her grandchildren and spoiling them.
Survivors include three children, Larry Schweer and Bill (Lucille) Schweer of Jackson and Barb (Craig) Floyd of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ella Dee (the late Donald) Keith of Jackson, Shirley (Bill) Adams of Jackson and Karen (the late Rick) Wooley of Orange, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a sister, Doris Grebe.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Rowley officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ or Southeast Hospice.
