ADVANCE, Mo. -- Wanda Lou Powers, 77, of Advance passed away May 23, 2015, at Advance Nursing Center in Advance. She was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Advance, the daughter of Barney Green and Edna Hawkins. Wanda was a member of the First General Baptist Church of Advance. She worked for Inland Shoe Factory of Advance and Tri-Con Industries for many years and retired from Advance Nursing Center...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Wanda Lou Powers, 77, of Advance passed away May 23, 2015, at Advance Nursing Center in Advance.

She was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Advance, the daughter of Barney Green and Edna Hawkins.

Wanda was a member of the First General Baptist Church of Advance. She worked for Inland Shoe Factory of Advance and Tri-Con Industries for many years and retired from Advance Nursing Center.

Wanda was united in marriage to James Powers on Sept. 17, 1993, in Advance; he survives of the home.

Other survivors include one son, Terry Powers of Advance; two daughters, Allison Page of Advance and Kimberly Haggett of Essex, Missouri; six brothers, Bill Green of Aquila, Missouri, Jerry Green of St. Charles, Missouri, Gary Green of Cape Girardeau, Roy Green of Bell City, Missouri, Donald Green of St. Louis and Barney Ray of Scott City; seven sisters, Shelby Compass of Scott City, Dixie Billingsley of Lowndes, Missouri, Sharon Delay of Bell City, Brenda Sue Adams of Steele, Missouri, Edna Faye Cochrell of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Linda Harvey of Aquila, and Doris Lacey of Bell City; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Green and Johnny Green.

Visitation was Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 9:45 a.m. today at the chapel, with Gavin Page officiating and the Rev. Eric Shrum assisting. Burial will be in Missouri Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield.
