Wanda Dodson, 90, of Scott City died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011. She was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Hartman, Ark., to Floyd and Eunice Snow Sparks. She went to school in Hartman until moving to Crowder, Mo., when she was 12 years old. She married Joe Dodson on Aug. 30, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. They celebrated 56 years together before his death in 1998...

Wanda Dodson, 90, of Scott City died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011.

She was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Hartman, Ark., to Floyd and Eunice Snow Sparks. She went to school in Hartman until moving to Crowder, Mo., when she was 12 years old.

She married Joe Dodson on Aug. 30, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. They celebrated 56 years together before his death in 1998.

Before retiring, she worked as a cool at Woolworth's lunch counter for years and Midwest Towing Co. as a cook. She was also a seamstress for many years at House of Brides.

She was active at the United Methodist Church in Scott City.

Loving survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law: Glen and Dixie Dodson of Commerce, Mo., Ron and Patti Dodson of St. Peters, Mo.; two daughters, Juanita Brazel of Jackson, Joann Gibbar of Scott City; 10 grandchildren, Steve Brazel, Shawn and Robin Brazel of Jackson, Angie and Tom Hahn, Jeanne and Tim Scheper, all of Scott City, T.J. and Jessie Dodson of St. Charles, Andrea Dodson of St. Peters; and five great-grandchildren, Eric Scheper, Cody and Dylan Brazel, Noah Hahn and Norah Dodson.

Her parents, three brothers, two sisters, a daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
