WANDA ABERNATHY

WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- Funeral for Wanda L. Abernathy of Wolf Lake will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ill. The Rev. John Cripps will officiate. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Abernathy, 59, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 28, 1941, in Jonesboro, daughter of Homer "Pod" and Ruby Elkins. She and Getty Abernathy were married April 30, 1960.

Abernathy was head cook many years at Shawnee High School. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Scott Abernathy of Anna, Ill.; a daughter, Lana Cochrane of Ware, Ill.; her mother of Anna; four grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.

She was preceded in death by her father.
