ANNA, Ill. -- Walter Leo Zink Jr., 80, of Anna died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born April 21, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minn., son of Walter Leopold and Blanche Wisehaupt Zink. He and Ruth Fife were married Nov. 20, 1947, in Minneapolis.
Zink was a fireman several years with the Minneapolis Fire Department. He was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna and sang in the choir. He was a member of VFW Post 6587 and Lake Harriett Masonic Lodge in Minneapolis, and member of Zuhrah Temple and Shrine Band.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra Thompson of Stillwater, Minn., Barbara Haase of Anna; a brother, Robert Zink of West Lafayette, Ind.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Steve Wilkinson officiating.
