TAMMS, Ill. -- Walter W. Raby, 87, of Tamms died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 1, 1915, at Tamms, son of Charlie Clarence and Rana Ruth Walters Raby. He and Naomi Vancil were married Oct. 17, 1936, in Jonesboro, Ill.
Raby was retired from GM&O/ICG Railroad and had farmed. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rayford and Ben Raby of Alton, Ill.; three sisters, Wanda Hartline of Cape Girardeau, Lula Pickett of Tamms, Esther Kemper of Eustis, Fla.; two brothers, Don Raby of Elco, Ill., Albert Raby of Benton, Ill.; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and Saturday after 8:30 a.m.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bill Fox and Bob Richardson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at Dongola, Ill.
