SIKESTON, Mo. -- Walter Lee Farmer, 72, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1932, at Newton County, Ark., son of Simon and Tilda (Smith) Farmer. He and Violet Abernathy were married Nov. 12, 1954, at Benton, Mo.
Farmer was employed as a sanitation worker at Bunny Bread Co. 27 years and worked at Leonard's Shell Station for 17 years.
He also served in the U.S. Army for two years.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jimmy Ray and Roy Lee Farmer of Sikeston, and David Wayne Farmer of Bertrand, Mo.; two daughters, Elizabeth Jane Davis, of Benton and BeLinda Sue Mays of Sikeston; a brother, William Farmer of Mineral Wells, Texas; a sister, Geneva Freeman of Sikeston; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Randy Eskew and the Rev. Dennis Lowe will officiate with burial in Garden of Memories.
