PERRYVILLE -- Walter J. Dippold, 81, of Perryville died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at Vencor Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born July 11, 1917, in Kress, Texas, son of Leopold F. and Irma A. Griebel Dippold. He and Alma Sadler were married June 6, 1970.
Dippold owned Dippold Express delivery service. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, its Fellowship Club and Lutheran Laymen's League; Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion. He was active in Boy Scouts many years, and was a former youth league baseball coach.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Al and Jerry Dippold of Perryville; two daughters, Becky Camp of Tucson, Ariz., Sue Dippold of Nashville, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Carol Kaufmann and Diana Tripp of Perryville, Cynthia Nash of Salem; and a stepson, Dwight Deimund of Iowa City, Iowa.
Also surviving are three brothers, Richard and Hugo Dippold of Cape Girardeau, Edgar Dippold of St. Louis; two sisters, Evelyn Mueller of Hamel, Ill., Irma Willson of Montgomery, Ala.; four grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and nine great-stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today, and Friday from 6:30-11:30 a.m. An American Legion wake will be held at 7, and VFW wake at 7:15.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Church, with the Rev. Craig Otto officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
