JACKSON -- Walter J. Bodenstein, 93, of Jackson and formerly ofGordonville, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at The Lutheran Home.
He was born Aug. 30, 1906, at Gordonville, son of Henry and Annie Kester Bodenstein. He and Lorene Eggiman were married Jan. 13, 1929. She died Oct. 26, 1986.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Gordonville and was an elder for many years as well as serving on various church boards and committees. He was a former member of the Cape Girardeau County Farm Bureau. He farmed in the Gordonville community all his life before retiring in 1979.
He is survived by a sister, Cora Huter of Cape Girardeau, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home at Jackson.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating.
