OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Walter H. Bishop, 94, of rural Olive Branch died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at his home.

He was born July 28, 1916, in Alexander County, to John Cyrille and Ella Mae Jaynes Bishop. He married Nellie Thompson on Aug. 14, 1941.

Walter was born, raised his family, farmed and died on the same family homestead. He also worked as a carpenter. He was a member of Lake Milligan Baptist Church, Caledonia Lodge 47 AF&AM and Carpenters Local 640.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie; a daughter, Barbara Bishop of Olive Branch; a special grandson, John Painter of Columbia; two granddaughters, Rachel Price of Toledo, Ohio, Renee Price of Arkansas; a grandson, Roger Price of Arkansas; three great-grandchildren, Molly, Jack and Brook Price; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carole Elaine Price in 2002; a sister, Mary Williams; and two brothers, John and Martin Bishop.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., with the Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.
