SIKESTON -- W.A. "Dubb" Beggs, 79, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Morley, son of William A. and Mary M. Capps Beggs Sr. He and Virginia L. Dunn were married Sept. 23, 1937, at Charleston.

Beggs was a retired farmer. He was a former mayor of Blodgett and served on the Blodgett Town Board.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the church board, and United Methodist Men. He was a former member of Scott County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald Beggs of Sikeston, Gary Beggs of Benton; a daughter, Gail Cooper of Sikeston; a brother, Finis Beggs of Sikeston; three sisters, Thelma Young of Crowder, Mary Hopper of Benton, Dorothy Ervin of Jackson; eight grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, a sister and grandson.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley.
