CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Vyron Glynn Yount, 86, of Chaffee died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 27, 1925, in Chaffee, to Marshall Leslie and Bulah Margaret Huffman Yount. He married Dixie Jewell Brock on Sept. 3, 1943.
Vyron was a pastor 12 years at First Christian Church in Chaffee, retiring in February 2012. He pastored several General Baptist churches in his early years and served on the National Denominational Headquarters in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He earned a master's degree at Drury University in Springfield, Mo., and received a doctorate degree in Oakland City, Ind.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie of the home; two daughters, Glynnis (Keith) Kunzler of Arnold, Mo., Lynnette Parker of Florissant, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kristin (Jerry) Mugg of Denver, Jeffry Parker of Florissant, Kecia (James) Howell of Greenway, Ark., Shay Dahl of Dallas; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Myron Lynn Yount.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the General Baptist Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Kermit Patton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Luther Rhodes. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
