BERNIE -- Vivian A. Davis, 88, of Bernie died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter. She was born Oct. 24, 1910, near Malden, daughter of Thomas David and Minnie Parks Davis. She received a master's degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. BERNIE -- Vivian A. Davis, 88, of Bernie died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

She was born Oct. 24, 1910, near Malden, daughter of Thomas David and Minnie Parks Davis.

She received a master's degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She taught elementary school in Missouri before becoming a reading specialist and supervisor in the reading program for the Saginaw, Mich., area.

After retiring in 1965, she moved to Paragould, Ark., where she lived prior to moving back to Bernie.

She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Paragould, Ark. She attended the United Methodist Church in Bernie and was an active member of the United Methodist Women.

She also held offices in the North East Arkansas Conference and the American Cancer Society, American Association of University Women, Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Survivors include two brothers, E.J. Davis of Farmington Hills, Mich., and John E. Davis of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Bernie Maxam of Malden, Faustina Ford of Paragould, Ark., and Mary Beth Wimp of Fulton.

Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie.

Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating.
