JONESBORO, Ill. -- Virtus E. "Red" Wiggs, 84, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center.
He was born May 22, 1921, at Lick Creek, Ill., son of James Edd and Hattie Emory Wiggs. He and Margaret L. Foehr were married Aug. 2, 1939, in Perryville, Mo. She died July 28, 2004.
Wiggs operated a Ford tractor dealership and had been a car salesman. He was a lifelong farmer and an auctioneer.
He was a member of Ebenezer Hall Cumberland Presbysterian Church at Lick Creek, retired member of IBEW, and past governor of Moose Lodge 1346 in Anna.
Survivors include a son, James "Jim" Wiggs of Jonesboro; two daughters, Linda VanArsdale of Eddyville, Ky., Shirley Reitz of Scottsdale, Ariz., three sisters, Viola Barker of Houston, Texas, Ellen Roberts of Lick Creek, Zella Roberts of Anna; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Saturday.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Doug Bridgeman officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
