SIKESTON, Mo. -- Virginia G. Wibbenmeyer, 79, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Apple Creek, Mo., the daughter of Anton Charles and Bertha Unterreiner Ponder.

She married Rudolph J. Wibbenmeyer on June 3, 1946, in Apple Creek. He survives.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a homemaker and cook, working for Lambert's Cafe and Kings Kitchen.

She also is survived by three sons, Charles Wibbenmeyer of Fisher, Ind., Kenny Wibbenmeyer and Rickey Wibbenmeyer, both of Sikeston; two daughters, Joanie Wrather and Shirley McCall, both of Sikeston; three brothers, Norbert Ponder of Apple Creek, Robert Ponder of St. Ann, Mo., and Eddie Ponder of Perryville, Mo.; two sisters, Genevieve Schloss and Toni Schnurbusch, both of Cape Girardeau; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Church, with the Rev. Jim Unterreiner officiating.

Burial will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
