Virginia Schwab

Virginia L. Schwab, 89, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Frederick and Louise Roth Schaefer. She and Norman J. Schwab were married Nov. 17, 1945.

Virginia graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Cape Girardeau in 1939. She worked for the former Central Packing Co. in Cape Girardeau and was bookkeeper for the Cape Girardeau School District a number of years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau 58 years.

Loving survivors include her husband of 64 years; two sons, Robert (Polly) Schwab of St. Louis, Dr. Steve (Carol) Schwab of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Rosemary Robert of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Seyer.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Kizito Wenani officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
