VIRGINIA SAMPLE

A memorial service for Virginia Irene Sample of Cape Girardeau will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jesse Perry will officiate.

There is no visitation.

Sample, 70, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Heartland Care Rehab Center.

She was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of Lawrence and Mattie Kurre Wilkinson. She and Elmer M. Sample were married April 19, 1952, in Piggott, Ark.

Sample was a dishwasher at Royal N' Orleans Restaurant from 1971-95.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Allan and George Sample of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Karen Burton of Olive Branch, Ill.; a brother, Fred Wilkinson of Jackson, Mo.; a sister, Evelyn Bowers of Herrin, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
