Virginia L. LaGrand, 84, of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Aug. 20, 1927, in St. Louis to Ivan and Marjorie Haynes Hobbs.
She and Floyd M. LaGrand were married May 14, 1949, in Perkins, Mo. He preceded her in death Aug. 9, 1986.
Mrs. LaGrand attended Southeast Missouri State University and taught at Perkins Elementary School. She later worked for Farmers and Merchants Bank in Cape Girardeau, which is now Bank of America, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Ivan D. (fiance, Trisha Nance) LaGrand of Scott City; a brother, Carl Hobbs of Scott City; two sisters, Verna Bingenheimer and Vivian Schrader, both of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating.
Burial will follow at Hobbs Chapel Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
