PADUCAH, Ky. -- Virginia Lee Hensley, 91, of Paducah, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, in St. Charles, Missouri. She was born to Charlie and Lorene Elliott Kirk in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Feb. 21, 1930. Virginia married her high school sweetheart, Billy Joe Hensley, in Cape Girardeau on Sept. 11, 1948...

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Virginia Lee Hensley, 91, of Paducah, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, in St. Charles, Missouri.

She was born to Charlie and Lorene Elliott Kirk in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Feb. 21, 1930. Virginia married her high school sweetheart, Billy Joe Hensley, in Cape Girardeau on Sept. 11, 1948.

Her parents moved their family to Fornfelt in 1937. Virginia was a 1948 graduate of Illmo-Fornfelt High School. She worked as a secretary for First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau before moving to Paducah in 1973.

She and Billy Joe owned The Family Shoe Store in Paducah. Later, she worked as a seamstress specializing in wedding dresses. She loved traveling and being "Gin Gin" to her grandchildren.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband; her parents; her sister, Julie Dietiker; and her granddaughter, Stephanie.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Marcia) Hensley of Metropolis, Illinois; daughter, Debi (Don) Burgess of St. Charles; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; plus her friend of over 60 years, Gerry Middleton of Cape Girardeau.

In accordance with her wishes, burial was private at Mount Kenton Cemetery in Paducah.
