Virginia Felty, 96, of Millersville passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 23, 1919, near Millersville to Boyd and Bertha Sander Summers. She married Quentin Felty on Dec. 21, 1938, at Marble Hill, Missouri.
Virginia and Quentin were practically inseparable. They farmed many years in the Millersville area and were lifelong members of Fairview United Methodist Church, where Virginia was active in UMW and formerly served as an adult Sunday-school teacher and as church treasurer. They had been married nearly 75 years when Quentin passed away Oct. 24, 2013.
Virginia liked to garden, quilt and do needle work, but she truly enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was also a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary.
Loving survivors include three children, Virgil (Loudeen) Felty of Millersville, Carol (Jim) Sawyer of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Saundra (the late Don) Crader of Marble Hill; four grandchildren, Sherri Berry, Debra (Colin) Fjerstad, Randy (Paula) Sawyer and Dean (Chris) Sawyer; granddaughter-in-law Kim (the late Tom) Sawyer; 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan (Hannah), Jessica and Justin Sawyer, Kurtis and Amy Fjerstad, Kellie, Sarah and Rachel Berry, Cassidy and Shelby Sawyer, Amber (Josh) Driskill and Quentin Sawyer; a great-great granddaughter, Lilly Kay Driskill; three siblings, Boyd (Juanita) Summers, Bertha (the late Wib) Haupt and Elvira (Gilbert) Urhahn, all of Jackson; a stepbrother, Dan (Jan) Glenzy of O'Fallon; and a sister-in-law, Wilma (the late Lloyd) Summers of Jackson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Tom Sawyer; two sons-in-law, Don Crader and Robert Sawyer Jr.; two siblings, Lloyd Summers and Winifred (Ralph) Dumey; and four brothers-in-law, Alt, Webster, Edwin and Kermit Felty.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Randy Sawyer and Jimmy Corbin officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Methodist Cemetery near Millersville.
