LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Virginia Elfrink, 87, of Leopold passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Leopold, the daughter of Louis Fred and Mary A. Stoverink Holzum. She and Walter Elfrink were united in marriage June 21, 1952...

LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Virginia Elfrink, 87, of Leopold passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Leopold, the daughter of Louis Fred and Mary A. Stoverink Holzum. She and Walter Elfrink were united in marriage June 21, 1952.

Virginia was a homemaker who loved to baby-sit, a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold and St. Anne Ladies Sodality PCCW.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Ann (Joe) Bohnsack of Leopold; son-in-law, Anthony Bueter of Leopold; brother, Melvin (Dianne) Holzum of Leopold; sisters, Eleanor Nenninger of Cape Girardeau and Judy Elfrink of Jackson; grandchildren, Mary (Brad) Adams, Allison (Larry) Nussbaum, Janice Bueter and John Bohnsack, all of Leopold; and great-grandchildren, Nash and Thad Adams of Leopold.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; daughter, Deborah Ann Bueter; brother, Ernest Holzum; and sister, Alma Claspill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home, with parish prayers and rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Revs. William Hennecke and David Coon officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Leopold.
