MOUNDS, Ill. -- Virginia A. Egner, 85, of Mounds, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1992 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was a retired sales clerk for the P.N. Hirsch Company in Mounds and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was born in Cypress, Ill. on Nov. 2, 1906, the daughter of E.Z. and Mary Jaynes Shaffer. She married Fred T. Egner, who preceded her in death in 1951...

MOUNDS, Ill. -- Virginia A. Egner, 85, of Mounds, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1992 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was a retired sales clerk for the P.N. Hirsch Company in Mounds and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was born in Cypress, Ill. on Nov. 2, 1906, the daughter of E.Z. and Mary Jaynes Shaffer. She married Fred T. Egner, who preceded her in death in 1951.

Survivors are one daughter, Mary Alice Murphy of Cairo; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call today from 5-8 p.m. at the Barkett Funeral Home Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery.
