CHARLESTON -- Virginia Dare Elmore Young, 82, of Charleston died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at the Bertrand Nursing Facility.
She was born Sept. 7, 1914, at Morley, daughter of Claude Rowe and Eva Bizzell Elmore.
She and Ellis Young were married on June 14, 1936. He died March 12, 1985.
She lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She owned Young's Gift Shop in Charleston for more than 50 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston and served as the church clerk for more than 40 years.
Survivors include a son, Reginald E. Young of Charleston, and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate, with burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
