Virginia Mae Porch Beardslee, 90, of Maineville, Ohio, formerly of Scott City, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Hospice of Cincinnati.

She was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1923, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, to Charles Russell and Frances Willard Buzza Porch.

Virginia was an Army nurse captain who served in World War II. She met Lt. Col. Charles Grady Beardslee at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and they eloped to Jeffersonville, Indiana, on April 23, 1956.

She was an active volunteer with the Hyde Park United Methodist Church while living in Cincinnati, serving with Meals on Wheels and helping with the church day care. Virginia was a member of Broadway Methodist Church in Scott City many years where she continued to volunteer.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas Paul and Jeffrey Charles Beardslee; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Beardslee; and a grandson, Jacob Martin Beardslee, all of Maineville.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Daun, Dean and Ralph Porch.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel, 115 Hickory St. East in Scott City.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with Larry Dunger officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery on Route E at Commerce, Missouri, with full military honors provided.
