MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Virgil I. Peters, 55, of Marble Hill died Friday, May 18, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 8, 1946, at Leopold, Mo., son of John and Lorene King Peters. He and Mary Jane Deck were married May 20, 1967.
Peters was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church and the St. Isadore Council of the Knights of Columbus No. 5898 at Leopold. He had been a Boy Scout leader for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Todd Peters of Marble Hill; two daughters, Amy Elfrink of Jackson, Mo., and Theresa Davis of Marble Hill; a brother, John Peters of Marble Hill; six sisters, Ruth Britton of Dexter, Mo., Irene Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, Mary Powers, Esther Welker, Bernardine Peters and Rose Ann Beel, all of Marble Hill; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill after 4 p.m. today. There will be parish prayers and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev. Bill Huggins will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
