MOUNDS, Ill. -- Former Mound City Police Chief Virgil Marion Stout, 77, Mounds Route 1, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Feb. 23, 1915, at Mound City, son of James Claude and Emma Ardelle Dean Stout. He married the former Elaine Caswell.
Stout was a linotype operator more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Susan Gilley of Mounds, Lois Merema and Karen Rodriguez of Atlanta, Ga., Sandra Anderson of Fairgrove, Mo., Patricia Ammon of Jackson, Mo., Lisa Goins of Cairo; four sons, James Stout of Earlville, Richard Stout of Cape Girardeau, Mo., William Stout of Long Mount, Colo., James Stout of Mounds; four stepdaughters, Sherida Parks of Aurora, Barbara Rose of Paris, Tenn., Bethany Drummond of Puryear, Tenn., Gloria Steil of Mermet; a stepson, John Steil of Mounds; a sister, Margaret Stout of Mound City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, with Bill Hensley officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
