Virgie Lee Turner, 86 of Jackson passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 20, 1932, in Whitewater to the late Arbon and Opal Ola Rhodes Slinkard.
Virgie attended school at Gravel Hill, and also attended Gravel Hill United Methodist Church. She worked at International Shoe Co. in Jackson for 27 years, and then worked for the Jackson Walmart for 17 years, where she retired.
Survivors include a son, Dennis (Sharon) Turner of Sikeston, Missouri; three sisters, Virginia Hutson of Cape Girardeau, Lavern Hobeck of Chester, Illinois, and Sylvia (David) Crites of Sedgewickville, Missouri; sister-in-law, Gladys Slinkard of Scott City; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jimmy, Victor and Larry Slinkard; and an infant sister, Diane.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home-Jackson.
Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association or Lutheran Home Hospice.
