MOREHOUSE -- Violet Lorine McGuirt, 75, of Morehouse died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at her home.
She was born March 23, 1923, at Dexter, daughter of Amos and Anna Chandler Griffee. She and Britt B. McGuirt were married Dec. 23, 1963, at Sikeston. He died Oct. 7, 1991.
McGuirt had lived at Morehouse most of her life.
Survivors include a son, Milton McGuirt of Warm Springs, Ark.; six daughters, Loretta Pickard and Rudella Roslen of Sikeston, Lois Lutes and Marilyn Brashears of Morehouse, Jan Frazier of Dexter, Joan Johnston of Blytheville, Ark.; a brother, James Howard of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Clara Merric of Tennessee, Katherine DePriest of Nashville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don McGuirt officiating. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery at Essex.
