Violet A. Heuer, 81, of Cape Girardeau, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 20, 1930, in Cape Girardeau to Emil W. and Selma Marie Eggers Lampe.

She married Donald C. Heuer on Dec. 30, 1950, in Cape Girardeau.

A schoolteacher of over 41 years, Mrs. Heuer taught thousands of first graders to read at Franklin Elementary School in Cape Girardeau and Scott City Elementary School.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association, and enjoyed painting and flower arranging.

She will be remembered with love and respect by her family and friends.

Loving survivors include her husband of nearly 61 years, Don of Cape Girardeau; and her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jeanie Heuer of Bloomington, Ind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Lampe.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating.

Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the church or charity of the donor's preference.
