Violet Cantrell
ANNA, Ill. -- Violet Cantrell, 96, of Anna died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.
She was born April 9, 1912, in Union County, Ill., daughter of Jefferson and Susie Fitzgerald Hankla. She and Charles Newton "Newt" Cantrell were married April 9, 1946. He died Nov. 18, 1980.
Cantrell was a member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church. She was a 1931 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro High School. She had worked at International Shoe Co., Duty Ford, and had worked as a clerk at the ASCS office. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Ann DePriest of Wildwood, Mo., and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time today at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Albert Nyland officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
