Viola Westrich

Viola Helen Westrich, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, April 8, 2011 at The Lutheran Home.

She was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Illmo, to Charles and Helen Ann Leible Burger.

She and Leon P. Westrich were married Aug. 3, 1940, at Oran, Mo. He died Dec. 22, 1982.

She had been a member of St. Mary Cathedral since December 1943 and was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women at St. Mary's.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tim Blattner of Caldwell, N.J.; one sister, Bernice Kagle of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Brandon Baker, Kindal Blattner-Buterin and Greg Blattner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
