JACKSON -- Mrs. Viola Neilson, 83, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Friends may call Saturday, Nov. 11, from 4-8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home. The Revs. John Rice and Richard Northcutt will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery...

JACKSON -- Mrs. Viola Neilson, 83, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call Saturday, Nov. 11, from 4-8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home. The Revs. John Rice and Richard Northcutt will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Mrs. Neilson was born Sept. 3, 1917, daughter of Romer G. and Marie Welch Call. She and George Neilson were married July 22, 1950, at Marble Hill, Mo. He survives.

Other loving survivors are two daughters, Donna Neilson of San Antonio, Texas, Doris Koeberl of Jackson; and two granddaughters, Kristy Kennon of Ballwin, Mo., and Kara Koeberl of Jackson.

Mrs. Neilson received a bachelor of science degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She was an elementary teacher at various rural schools in Bollinger County, and while living in Champaign, Ill., taught at a business school.

Mr. and Mrs. Neilson moved to Jackson in 1954. She was an elementary teacher at Jackson R-2 Schools, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, a friendship member of the Wesleyan Circle, and Order of Eastern Star 91.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the Lutheran Home.
