BLOOMFIELD -- Funeral service for Viola Gertrude Cowgur of Bloomfield will be held at 2 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home. The Rev. Greg Greason will officiate, with burial in North Antioch Cemetery near here.
Cowgur, 80, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 15, 1915, near Bloomfield, daughter of Arthur and Maggie Eaton Hardy. She and William Earl Cowgur were married April 25, 1931. He died Oct. 30, 1975.
Cowgur was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Cowgur of Scopus, Gene Cowgur of St. Louis, Jack Cowgur of Seneca; two daughters, Doris Rickman and Mary Walpole of Bloomfield; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and three brothers.
