Viola Mae Brown, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Mo.
She was born Aug. 14, 1923, to Bert and Della Stilts Minor. She and Lester J. Brown were married in 1943. He preceded her in death.
Viola began working at the Alvarado in Cape Girardeau when she was a teenager. She retired after many years as floor manager at J.C. Penney.
She is survived by two sons, Robert "Jim" Brown (Diane) of Jackson, Steve Brown (Kathy) of De Soto, Mo.; four grandsons, Brian Brown (Terri) and Michael Brown (Elizabeth) of Cape Girardeau, Sheldon Brown of Byrnes Mill, Mo., Toby Brown of De Soto; six great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Gavin, Nolan, Ava and Nathan Brown of Cape Girardeau, and David Clark of DeSoto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Anthony Kobak officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials are requested to the American Heart Association.
