JACKSON -- Vincent J. Halter, 77, of Jackson died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born July 9, 1922, in Oran, son of Martin and Helen Vaudenstici Halter. He and Pearl Irene Lusk were married in Piggott, Ark., on July 31, 1948. She died Aug. 1, 1999.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He was a meat cutter at the Food Giant in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1970.
He was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Halter of Poplar Bluff and Philip "Peachy" Halter of Chaffee; three brothers, Harold Halter of Royal Oak, Mich., Charles Halter of Albuquerque, N.M., and Cleophas Halter of Perkins; three sisters, Norma Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, Lucille Halter of Afton and Lorene Sykes of White Hall, Ill.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters and a grandson.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cracraft-Miller Chapel.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ollie Boyd officiating. Burial will be at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
