MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Verona L. Wilder, 77, of Marble Hill passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Marble Hill, the daughter of Marvin Roscoe and Ruby Leadbetter Shanks. She and Leonard T. "Corky" Wilder were united in marriage July 10, 1971, and he passed away Jan. 20, 1997...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Verona L. Wilder, 77, of Marble Hill passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Marble Hill, the daughter of Marvin Roscoe and Ruby Leadbetter Shanks.

She and Leonard T. "Corky" Wilder were united in marriage July 10, 1971, and he passed away Jan. 20, 1997.

Verona was a secretary for Farmers Home Administration and a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, Missouri.

Survivors include her son, Edward (Desiree) Borchelt of Fort Myers, Florida; three brothers, Roscoe Shanks and the Rev. Frank Shanks of Marble Hill and L.J. Shanks of North Augusta, South Carolina; and two sisters, Lou Mazzarella of Wood River, Illinois, and Marabeth Banks of Creve Coeur, Missouri.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Corky; parents; brother, Weldon Shanks; and sister, Almeta Baker.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, with parish prayers at 6 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Glennon, Missouri, with the Rev. David Coon officiating.

Burial will follow in Valle Spring Cemetery near Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, 2536 Boutin Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
