Vernon O. Weinrich of Perryville, Mo., died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was 76.

He was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Longtown, Mo., son of the late Oscar F. and Nora S. Hopfer Weinrich. He was married May 27, 1956, to Kathleen Ann Herschbach.

Weinrich had worked 45 years as a school bus driver for Meyer Bus Lines in Perryville and had been a farmer.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, American Legion Post 133 and, VFW Post 4282 and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Kenneth (Carol) Weinrich of Jackson; two daughters, Vicki (Gene) King of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Sandra (Jerry) Bert of Perryville; a sister, Verna Hemmann of Longtown; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Ryan Buchheit, Bridgette Baer, Abigail Weinrich, Bryan, Lauren and Brandon Bert; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Chapel. There will be an American Legion wake at 7 p.m. Monday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Longtown, with military graveside honors provided by VFW Post 4282 and Missouri Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Longtown or Immanuel Lutheran School in Perryville.
