MCCLURE, Ill. -- Funeral service for Vernon Morrison of McClure will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Rev. Bill Kitchen will officiate, with burial in Lindsey Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Morrison, 68, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 17, 1928, in Springfield, son of Leonard and Katherine Nelson Morrison. He and Betty Jean Smith were married July 5, 1980, in East Cape Girardeau.
Morrison was a truck driver, and member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mona Algone of East St. Louis; three stepdaughters, Brenda Harvell of Wickliffe, Ky., Marilyn Kaufman of Cape Girardeau, Gay Phillips of Anna; two stepsons, Michael Coleson of Mill Creek, Wayne Coleson of McClure; a brother, Dalmer Morrison of Quincy; three grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, brother and sister.
