Vernon Davis

ANNA, Ill. -- Vernon Roy Davis, 68, of Anna died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 16, 1935, in Jackson, Tenn., son of Everett Lee and Flora Connell Davis. He and Neila Beth Scott were married Nov. 15, 1965, in Freeport, Ill.

Davis was a retired truck driver.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Verna Rowley and Elizabeth Back of Anna, Carol Suhling of Jonesboro, Ill., Karen Thomas of Belvidere, Ill.; three sons, Carl Davis of Manchester, Conn., Vernon "Roy" Davis of Alto Pass, Ill., and Ronald Davis of Spangdahlem, Germany.

Also surviving are three sisters, Velma Harrison of Licking, Mo., Dora Hancock and Janet Wallenmeyer of Ware, Ill.; four brothers, William Davis of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Arthur Davis of Anna, Phillip Davis of Jonesboro, Don Davis of Rockford, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 5 p.m. today, and Thursday until service time.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Stamp officiating. Burial will be in Busby Cemetery at Goreville, Ill., with military honors by Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard.
