Vernon Cletus Barringer, Jr., 56, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, June 13, 1997, at his home.
He was born Sept. 6, 1940, the son of Vernon C. Barringer Sr. and Arlinda E. Huff. He and Peggy Lehman were married Dec. 26, 1965, at Cape Girardeau. She survives.
Barringer was a certified public accountant with the accounting firm of Schott and Van De Ven for 21 years. He served in the U.S. Army. Barringer was a graduate of Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University and was a member of the Missouri Society of CPA's. He was a member of the Centenary Methodist Church, the Upper Room Sunday School class and the Methodist Men's Club.
Survivors include his mother Arlinda McElreath of Cape Girardeau; a son, Robert Barringer of Cape Girardeau; seven sisters, Norma Barenkamp of Belleville, Ill., Judy Goza of Lakeland, Fla., Sue McMullin, Amy Stovall and Linda Sherrill, all of Cape Girardeau, Beth Bauer of St. Louis, and Joyce Lanzotti of Springfield, Ill.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., today, at the Ford and Sons Funeral Chapel on Mount Auburn Road.
Funeral service will be at the chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
