Okeechobee, Fla. -- Vernis L. Stout, 88, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.
He was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Campbell, Mo., son of Grant and Luaney Russom Stout. He and Glenda Heaps were married in 1970 in St. Louis.
Stout was a retired electrician, a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the IBEW Local 1 of St. Louis and the Scottish Rite. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Dennis Stout of Okeechobee and David Stout of St. Louis; two stepsons, Michael Heaps and Patrick Heaps, both of Perryville, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Jones and Pamela Dillow, both of Perryville; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Marcus Cemetery in St. Louis.
