Verna Mae Suhr, 99, of Jackson passed away Monday, May 28, 2018, at the Jackson Manor.
She was born Dec. 17, 1918, in Cape Girardeau County to Wilber Homer and Helen Mae Criddle Thompson.
She and Kenneth John Suhr were married Aug. 20, 1942, at Gordonville. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1998.
She graduated from Fruitland High School in 1937. She worked at the Jackson Hosiery Mill for 22 years.
She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her three nephews, Dean (Van) Suhr, Paul (Susan) Suhr of Sedgewickville, Missouri, and Carl Suhr of Jackson; great-niece, Lisa (George) Manning of Sedgewickville; great-nephews, Darryl (Wanda) Suhr of Salem, Missouri; Gary Suhr of Sedgewickville, and Clay Suhr, Colby Suhr, Cole Suhr, Jarrod Suhr and Justin Suhr, all of Oak Ridge. She was also survived by numerous cousins and their families.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating.
Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial contributions may be given to New Mckendree United Methodist Church.
