SHERMAN, Tex. - Verna Maurine Conrad, 65, of Sherman Texas died Saturday Feb. 13, 1993 at Medical Plaza Hospital in Sherman. She was born in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Caractacus C. and Helen Lamb Conrad.
She graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, Ark., attended Southeast Missouri State University for two years, and earned her B.A. and master's degrees from Texas Women's University in Denton.
She taught in Lee High School in Midland, Texas and other high schools in West Texas, and at Howard County Junior College in Big Springs, Tex.
Returning to Sherman, she served as a Grayson County member of Aid to Families with Dependent Children, was local president of the National Organization of Women, and president of a local group working with battered women.
Survivors include: her mother, of Sherman; one brother, Dr. G. David Conrad of Sherman; and a sister, Mrs. Carol L. Bailey of Oklahoma City, Ok.
No services are planned; Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman is in charge of cremation arrangements.
