CHARLESTON -- Vern Rose Anderson, 94, of East Prairie Nursing Center and formerly of Charleston, died Thursday, March 2, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born July 1, 1900, in Mississippi County, daughter of Charles E. and Martha Eva Murphy Baker. She and Clarence Kirb Anderson were married Feb. 18, 1917. He died Jan. 18, 1978.
Anderson was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, its WMU, and had been a Sunday School teacher. She was a charter member of Bridges Extension Club and RSVP of Mississippi County, and had worked with DAEOC a number of years.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Anderson of East Prairie, Bill Anderson of Charleston; three daughters, Betty Walker of Charleston, Frances Lingle and Jerry Barnes of East Prairie; a brother, Owen Baker of Yucaipa, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Quick of Birmingham, Ala.; 20 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, two daughters and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jim Barnhart and George White officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
