Verla Mae Stroder, 73, of Jackson died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 31, 1931, at Sedgewickville, Mo., daughter of John Bill and Nellie Audrey Brotherton Roe. She and Roy Stroder were married Aug. 1, 1952.

Stroder had worked at Jackson Hosiery Mill, Cauble and Field, Stroder Masonry, and Cape County Public Defender's Office. She was a member of Sedgewickville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, and was a Sunday school teacher several years.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Rick (Judy) Stroder of Liberty, Mo.; two daughters, Connie (Mike) Brothers of Jackson, Gayle (Steve) Leuschke of Effingham, Ill.; three brothers, John Roe Jr. of Ballwin, Mo., Bob Roe of Marquand, Mo., Darold Roe of Sedgewickville; two sisters, Betty Langston of Millersville and Margie Cook of Oak Ridge.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Amy and Abbey Stroder, Jason and Jamie Brothers, Brandi Gant, Tyler and Taryn Leuschke; and three stepgrandchildren, Brian and Chad McCart and Shelly Leiker.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Langston.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sedgewickville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Brice and Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sedgewickville United Methodist Church.
