VERDA CLIFTON

PERRYVILLE -- Verda Clifton, 97, of Perryville died Saturday, Dec. 17, 1994, at Perryoaks.

She was born June 19, 1897, in Perry County, the daughter of Robert and Buelah Young Dempster. She married Chalmer F. Clifton on March 5, 1916. He preceded her in death Sept. 26, 1969.

Clifton was a member of the York Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Howard Clifton of Perryville; two daughters, Inez LaVern Hieger of St. Louis and Selma Bliss of St. Louis; one sister, Merle Price of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Friends may call today from 4 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville.

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. Edward Hankinson officiating. Burial will follow in the York Chapel Cemetery.
