Vera Marie Trowbridge, 98, longtime resident of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023.
Vera was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Burfordville to the late Ruby Lange and Ralph McManus.
She attended Jackson High School. For the last several years, Vera resided in Alabama to be closer to her son, Kenneth M. Trowbridge.
Vera married Kenneth E. Trowbridge during World War II on June 17, 1944, after meeting him while he was in pilot training in Cape Girardeau. They returned to Cape Girardeau after the war.
Vera worked as a teacher's aide in Cape Girardeau public schools for several years, and retired from the registrar's office at Southeast Missouri State University after 20 years' service.
A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her son, Kenneth Michael Trowbridge (Vicky Patrick); two grandsons, Jason (Nicole) Trowbridge and Nathan Trowbridge (Anett Kruus); and two great-grandchildren, Eric and Ethan Trowbridge.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Trowbridge, and her youngest son, Lee Alan Trowbridge.
