Vera Jean Schreiner, 89, of Jackson passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 23, 1920, in Kurreville, daughter of George W. and Amanda Bryan Welker. She and John Ernest Schreiner Jr. were married Aug. 6, 1939. He passed away Aug. 3, 1987.
Vera was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. She worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill and the former Lenco Co. in Jackson.
Loving survivors include a son, John (Martha) Schreiner III of Jackson; two daughters, Judy Ford of Jackson, Joyce (Bobby) Lincoln of Patton, Mo.; a brother, Leslie Lee Welker of Alton, Ill.; a sister, Marie Hager of Taylorville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Teresa Scarpaci, Connie Robinson, John Schreiner IV, Monica Harris, Robert Joe Lincoln, John Mark Lincoln and Carla Jean Statler; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
