Vera Isabel Wieser, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center. She was born May 15, 1903, in Rushville, Ill., daughter of Franklin C. and Amelia Schramm Rittenhouse. She and John L. "Red" Wieser were married on Aug. 4, 1935, in Springfield, Ill. He preceded her in death June 24, 1982...

Vera Isabel Wieser, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born May 15, 1903, in Rushville, Ill., daughter of Franklin C. and Amelia Schramm Rittenhouse. She and John L. "Red" Wieser were married on Aug. 4, 1935, in Springfield, Ill. He preceded her in death June 24, 1982.

She was a homemaker, active in a number of gardening clubs and a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ.

She moved to Cape Girardeau from Chicago in 1936. She was a graduate of The Beauty College in Springfield, Ill.

She is survived by a son, Jerry Wieser of Jackson; two daughters, Sharon Searls of Modesto, Calif., and Karen Poinsett of Miami, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 10-11:30 a.m. Monday at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Caughlan officiating.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
