Vera Gertrude Peterson, 88, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, May 6, 1995, at Fountainbleau Lodge.
She was born July 23, 1906, at Capron, Ill., the daughter of John and Mary Ellwander Nelson.
She married Henry A. Peterson Dec. 23, 1939 in Dubuque, Iowa. He died Nov. 7, 1966.
Survivors include a special friend who took care of her the last 20 years, Caroline Seabaugh of Rockford, Ill.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
She was of the Lutheran denomination. For 59 years, she was a school teacher in Belvidere and Rockford, Ill. She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill.
She moved to Cape Girardeau on April 19, 1994.
Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Belvidere Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Penniman, a former student, will officiate.
Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel handled the arrangements.
